Behavior Specialist I & II Positions

Responsibilities:  The Behavior Specialist I & II play a key role in supporting students with behavioral challenges, providing assessment, intervention, and support services. Behavior Specialist I & II play a vital role in helping our staff achieve AAED’s mission of assisting every student with autism to be equipped and able to achieve academic, social, and behavioral excellence in an environment centered on strong character values. They will be working closely with students, families, and staff members to reach the best outcomes for the students. These specialists utilize their expertise to develop and implement behavior intervention plans, foster positive behavioral change, and enhance the overall well-being of clients.

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments.
  • Work directly with students to support positive behavior outcomes on campus.
  • Assist in any classroom with behaviors.
  • Complete data reports weekly
  • Become trained in all parts of Safety Care
  • Meet with team about individual plans/students.
  • Hold meetings and trainings for staff on positive behavior supports, best practices, etc.
  • Support and run behavior meetings weekly.
  • Collaborate with Leadership team at the district level.
  • Adhere to all AAED policies to support students’ safety.
  • Attend parent meetings as requested.
  • Communicate in writing outcomes of conversations and meetings.
  • Model for staff/teachers' positive behavior supports according to AAED standards.
  • Help create and update positive behavior support plans.
  • Support assessments, plan development, and ongoing program data analysis to ensure maximum student progress.
  • Collaborate with BCBAs/Behavior support team and all campus leadership teams.
  • Travel to all campuses.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of behavior intervention plans and ensure fidelity to the applied behavior analysis framework.

 

Qualifications & Requirements (Behavior Specialist I & II): 

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or related field.
  • Current enrolled in a Master's program for BCBA .
  • In progress BCBA supervision hours or ability to begin within first 6 months of employment.
  • Experience developing, writing, implementing, and evaluating individual and/or unit wide behavioral programs.
  • Experience training and coaching others.
  • Experience and knowledge for best practices in autism education.
  • Current AZ IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must possess valid driver's license & pass 39-month DMV history check.
  • Ability to travel to all AAED campuses (Phoenix, Tempe, Gilbert, Tucson) .
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Always maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Critical thinking skills and problem solving.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

 

Additional Requirements for Behavior Specialist II:

  • Possess a Master's Degree in Behavior Analysis, Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or related field.
  • BCBA coursework completed needed to sit for the test.
  • Experience in behavior analysis or applied behavior analysis.
  • 1000+ hours of supervision completed toward your BCBA licensure qualifications.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., BCBA) preferred for Behavior Specialist II.
  • Certified SafetyCare trainer when requested by AAED.
  • 5+ years of experience working with students in a school setting.
  • 5+ years of experience working with students with Autism.
  • Ability to travel to all AAED campuses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay Range: $42,000- $90,000 annually
