Derrick Jamerson
Derrick Jamerson is a 1996 graduate of Ball State University, in Muncie, IN., where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation he taught fifth grade at Longfellow Elementary also in Muncie, IN for the next six years. During those years he earned his master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan in Curriculum and Instruction and at the urging of his superintendent also completed Indiana Wesleyan University's school administration degree program. He was appointed to his first administrative position as an elementary assistant principal while he finished his administrative internship. Following a successful year as an elementary assistant principal at Grissom Elementary, district administration asked him to transfer to a middle school assistant principal and athletic director position at Northside Middle School to gain experience at the secondary level. After three years in that position, he was appointed Principal at Longfellow, where his teaching career had begun.
In 2010 he relocated with his family to AZ where he served as a Campus Director for a charter school in Mesa for six years before joining the Autism Academy community in 2015 as the Director of the Gilbert campus. In 2019 he was promoted to his District Administrator role. During his time as a school administrator, he has worked in public, charter, and private school settings. He prides himself on being a servant leader that seeks to empower colleagues and positively impact all students, families, and the field of education.
