The Autism Academy for Education and Development (AAED) stands as Arizona’s premier K-12+ school for children with Autism. Our unwavering commitment lies in providing exceptional education and support services to children on the autism spectrum. AAED boasts full accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Schools Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and we proudly hold Safety-Care Certification.

Our dedicated team members undergo rigorous training in Safety-Care Behavioral Safety Techniques. This paramount program equips them to proactively address behavioral challenges, implement early de-escalation strategies, and ensure the safe management of behaviors. Rooted in evidence-based practices within Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), our curriculum empowers both staff and students with cutting-edge strategies.

Safety-Care seamlessly aligns with our mission to foster a nurturing, secure, and dynamic learning environment. Notably, it surpasses the stringent accreditation criteria set forth by reputable organizations such as CARF, JCAHO, COA, and other esteemed agencies dedicated to upholding quality care standards.

Our Beginning:

The Autism Academy for Education and Development (AAED), established in 2013, operates five campuses across Arizona with an additional online option. Their focus is on providing individualized academic programs for students on the autism spectrum. These programs incorporate social skills development, life skills training, and various therapies. Founded by Laura Newcomb, a former Special Education Director with 25 years of experience, AAED's curriculum addresses the specific needs of autistic children. Their teaching methods encompass small group instruction, structured classrooms, and a variety of engaging learning activities. Beyond academics, AAED offers middle and high school students opportunities for community involvement, vocational training, and transition programs to prepare them for life beyond school. Students at AAED demonstrate measurable growth in academics, behavior, and social skills, fostering friendships, building strong values, and pursuing further education or employment.
